Matt Cameron is an American rock drummer renowned for his powerful feel, complex time signatures, and defining role in the Pacific Northwest grunge movement. He first gained global prominence as the powerhouse behind Soundgarden, delivering dark, heavy, and intricate grooves in asymmetrical meters like 5/4 and 7/4. In 1998, Cameron joined Pearl Jam as their full-time touring and recording drummer, anchoring the band for decades with his rock-solid drive and adaptability. Beyond these core acts, his career includes work with Skin Yard, the grunge supergroup Temple of the Dog, and the side project Wellwater Conspiracy.
