ABOUT THE BRAND

Gretsch Drums, founded in 1883 in Brooklyn, New York, embodies excellence in drum manufacturing. From its beginnings under the leadership of Fred Gretsch Sr., the brand has cultivated a reputation for its superior quality and its distinctive sound, dubbed "That Great Gretsch Sound." This unique sound is the result of meticulous manufacturing, notably the use of thin maple shells (often combined with gumwood for vintage models) and die-cast hoops, features that demonstrate particular attention to materials and design.

Production has always prioritized craftsmanship, though the notion of purely "handmade" manufacturing has evolved over time towards sophisticated production methods while maintaining rigorous quality control. After a period of transition, the repurchase by Fred W. Gretsch in 1985 reaffirmed the brand's commitment to its heritage, bringing the production of flagship series like USA Custom, Brooklyn, and Broadkaster back to the United States. Today, Gretsch continues to use high-end materials and demanding craftsmanship to deliver professional-grade drum instruments, prized by musicians worldwide.
