Dave Weckl

Dave Weckl studied music at the University of Missouri. Considered a top jazz fusion drummer, Dave Weckl gained fame with Chick Corea's Elektric Band before leading his own acclaimed group. He is famous for his speed, precision, and polyrhythmic skills. Weckl developed a very physical technique, placing emphasis on independence of the limbs and fluidity of movement. He is renowned for his great mastery of rolls, which he can execute very quickly over long sequences. Weckl also places a lot of importance on footwork, which he works in a very technical way by chaining different combinations over the three pedals. Known for his virtuosic technique, including incredible speed and polyrhythms, the Grammy-winning Weckl remains an influential figure in the world of jazz and fusion music. Weckl is considered one of the greatest drummers of all time.
