Danny Carey is an American drummer, world-famous for his work with the progressive alternative rock band Tool. He is one of the founding members of the group (1990) and is recognized for his essential contribution to their unique sound. His style is a complex fusion of influences, blending the power of metal, the finesse of jazz-fusion, and the mathematical concepts of percussion, inspired by Indian polyrhythms and the use of the Fibonacci sequence.

He is famous for his ultra-precise technique and his use of unconventional time signatures (such as $5/4$, $7/4$, $11/8$) which are omnipresent on seminal albums like Lateralus and Aenima. His patterns are both hypnotic and incredibly complex.

Before Tool, Carey was an active session musician, playing with various artists such as Carole King and Pigmy Love Circus, already demonstrating his versatility.

In addition to his mastery of acoustic drums, he is a pioneer in the use of electronic percussion and customized trigger pads that allow him to integrate complex sample sounds into Tool's live mix.

Considered one of the greatest living drummers in rock, his playing transcends genres and inspires musicians globally.
